You can decide where the comma goes in the title!

This topic was last examined by Veronica, in her excellent ‘Frame of Reference’, posted on 26th May 2008.

Highly recommended – do go and read it!

This Sunday’s sun has addled my brains, so here is a fantasy directed towards, and in humble homage to, one Countess Professor Susan Greenfield MBE.

Hope her hubby doesn’t see it!

Ho!

Love Poetry and Science

Microscopic Particles R Us!

Your sub-atomic particles

mean so much more to me

than all the learned articles

of Darwin, say – let’s see . . .

Forget romance and learning!

Forget our poetry too –

I’m desperate, still yearning,

as, I hope, are you,

for something wider than outer space

somewhat frail and thin

to occupy a humbler place

somewhere deep within.

For every tiny bit of you

adds up to so much more

than the sum of all your tender - phwoo!

which, quite frankly, I adore!

Now, will you make a quantum leap,

or a neuro-athletical somesuch,

to a theoretical dream to keep

where you love me so much?

Well, I thought I'd left a review but it didn't seem to take, so here it is...

I thought the first stanza was teriffic and had rhymes worthy of the great John Hegley. Tthird stanza, almost profound, Tolstoy, very good stuff.

And a quantum leap being neuro-athletical was a lovely turn of phrase. Not sure about the phwoo, though!

Really liked this, and Baroness Greenfield is a Diva, not to say a role model, who deserves a nice Ode. Good job!
Phwoo!

Thanks , V. !

Have you ever been desperate for a rhyme?!

Not you, I know - me, yes - hence the clumsy 'phwoo'

Ha!

Cheers!

To my shame - I'd never heard of her. Ooops. Didn't stop me enjoying it though. I'll pretty much go along with Veronica - but add - this really did make me smile. I actually like the 'phwoo.' It's 100% you and almost a 'phwaw!'

Mind or body, John - that's what I'd like to know.
