Talk of Pixies

Hello, this will be the first post I have done. Its a really weird short piece I wrote about two hours ago,( just want to test the waters). Hope you enjoy.

Talk of Pixies

"You know, there was a time when I didn't believe in things like that." Sadness said. "Maybe I went into my invisible shell and disappeared. Was I too alone? Afraid to even find an answer?" Sadness lay on a tattered, broken roof, much like her dreams, much like her life. The sky was playing games with the clouds. Maybe tricking it into thinking it could out last the sunset. But it would not persevere for the deep blasts of violet, orange, and finally that terrible coarse scarlet painted the sky, enveloping the clouds. Sadness could only watch as she always has. Intervention of the death of the clouds was just about as possible as climbing to a crescent moon and bathing the rest in pearly white just to enjoy the whole grand spectacle of it. Sadness heard a creak of the wooden ladder she used to climb up here. "Who could it be? I hope not Depressiones, I'd rather not converse with her." As soft waves of green hair swept up over the roof, a slight smile passed over Sadness' face. It was Euphoria.

"Euphie" Sadness called her. She always like her warm purple skin and the way she kept her beautiful green hair, just right curving over her pointed ears.

"Who were you talking to?" she asked, all so soothingly.

"To the clouds, my dying friends." She said, and turned to her side, causing her blue curls to fall over her face. In a tip-toe manner, Euphoria came closer to Sadness and saw that she was wearing a violet dress that counteracted with her pale white skin. It was much like the simple dress she was wearing, except hers was au-burn.

"Ah, but we all know our brethren never die, but hide away momentarily." Sadness flopped over to view upward again.

"But what of the beautiful blue sky, why does it have to die?" Gracefully, Euphoria walked up to Sadness and sat next to her, stroking her blue curls. The sun had completely set and the twinkling stars came into full view now.  While gazing up, Euphoria whispered, "So the beautiful night sky can be alive again."

While rolling her clear blue eyes, Sadness said, "Isn't that like the usual. The sun gives a blue sky; then takes it away. The sun gives a starry sky; then takes it away."

Euphoria put her hand on Sadness' cheek, that pale white plump flesh. Such a beautiful thing, yet it was in pain. "Oh, my Sadness, my lovely Sadness. There are just too many beautiful things out here. It could be that the blue sky and the night sky are simply too beautiful to look at the time, so they take turns. Or that they must each rest after one has gone through a tiresome day. They are not constants. Even though they are very beautiful, they can not be there for you all the time. The only constant is that they will be there the next day. That is the way of the world."

Sadness opened her eyes and saw the whole grand sky, with its sparkling stars, colorful galaxies and planets. She turned her gaze at Euphoria, whose face was shadowed by starlight. She could hardly make out her purple face and black eyes.

            "Euphie?"

Euphoria looked down at Sadness and said, "Yes?"

Sadness gazed at the crystal like moon and asked, "Your beautiful, right. Can you be my constant?" She then glanced at Euphoria again and was answered.

            "Yes."

Sadness closed her eyes and started to hum a melody she would sing to herself when she felt relaxed. "You know, there was a time when I didn't believe in things like that." Sadness said. "Maybe I went into my invisible shell and disappeared. Was I too alone? Afraid to even find an answer?"

While a bit uneventful as a self-contained piece, it's nevertheless a touching vignette which raises some interesting ideas worthy of exploration in a longer form.

And great character names, by the way!
melancholy and haunting

A sort of a-sexual love story... maybe more suited in the children's section.
