One of my mother's ... with additions
Mary had a little lamb;
The Midwife was surprised.
When Old MacDonald had a farm,
She couldn't believe her eyes!
To buy new reading glasses,
To the spec-shop she would go -
The test card that they showed her
Read E I E I O.

If you understood E I E I O - then you surely know the nursery song Old MacDonald Had A Farm (ee aye ee aye o)? |
PS - "had" ... Written by fellpony (1580 comments posted) 11th June 2008 |
is very commonly used in place of "gave birth to" - if that helps, Mia. I am not good at explaining jokes. |

. . . is also commonly used in place of 'had intercourse with', though clearly not in this context! Sue - I had to restrain myself when you asked, re 'A String of Horses' whether any of us who had teenagers could comment with authority on the authorial 'voice'. Well, I've had a few in the past, but that's a long story . . . Ho! Cheers! John |

Oh, I get it! Old Mac gave birth to a lots of farm animals. That's clever! (I was thinking of the actual farm, ie. "land", no wonder I didn't understand it!) Mia |

... that there are already far too many , and far too vulgar for publication really , versions of these nursery rhymes floating around on the net. There are however sites devoted to them It seems that for as long as the rhymes have been in existence there have been parodies of them-- and lots of the schoolyard ones , usually very topical and therefore evanescent and ephemeral -- are just too rich and ripe to be met with other than in that source . By the way I have no prudish objections to them . Personally though , I think the sexual ones are often much funnier than those that dip into the faecal . patterjack |
