Mary yet again

Apologies, but we do seem to be recycling childhood nursery rhymes so why shouldn't I join in? This was a rhyme (SUNG!) that went with a fast and complex 2-person clapping game at my primary school ... I have but filled in the blanks where memory fails.

Mary had a baby
She called it Sunny Jim
She threw it down the lavat'ry
To see if it could swim

It swam down to the bottom
And swam back to the top
And as it floated up to her
She grabbed it by the

Cocktails, whisky,

Fleas are worse
That is the end of

Oh so sublime!

Still chortling - something I very rarely do at 9.30 am!

Cheers!

Good one Sue. When you think of some of the rhymes we used to skip to in the playground, they were quite weird. It would be good to drag them out. I think some of them are in Flora Thompson's Book "Lark Rise to Candleford". Do children still skip to rhymes? I have just bought my little granddaughter her first skipping rope. No satchell was complete without a skipping rope when I was a girl. Simple fun, good exercise. I think we have brought immense fun to GW with these rhymes. Well done and I am so glad you've joined in. Perhaps we should transfer the lot to the comedy section of the website afterwards.
