Depressive Cycle
By awakenedmind
16 June 2008

My depressive cycle is on the wain
So I can enjoy my life again
My smile and laugh are coming back
That means to me I’m on the right track

I see some people, I go and talk
I realise that I’m no joke
They like to see me on good form
Than walk around all forlorn

To look around at others here
And see what they all bring to here
Nothing more that just good chat
Nothings ever said behind my back

To switch my mind from what if that
And switch it over to now how’s that
To think of all that I can do
And not to wish that I was you

Some times I will seem to step right back
But only to see that I’m on the right track
With the confidence I need to ensure progress
Will then ensure I will not regress.

Upbeat

Fantastic. I really liked this piece, probably because although it mentioned a dark past, it also had a very optimistic and upbeat feel missing in so much in popular poetry.
Also, thankyou for your very kind review for my speech. It was highly appreciated!
