This was written two months ago after a visit to the Skagit Valley in Washington state during the height of tulip bloom.
Fifty weeks of dirt rows
Plain and unnoticed.
Could be corn, could be beans
Could be anything;
Drive by fly over dull.
Yet April ignites explosion
Dazzling retinal singe;
Hues make me cry
Grateful tears for such as this
Rainbow on Earth
Transient, incandescent
Brilliance hoped for.
Remembered in dreams,
Promises realized,
Housed in crystal, then shattered.

"could be corn, could be beans"... sounded really mundane, which contrasted well with where you went next. I also liked "hues make me cry" because of the reminder of "hue and cry" of course. Then the third stanza summarises what the colours mean to you. I thought this was very well constructed, all about the transience of the flowers. | Yes indeed!
