Ice Cold In Alice
By Brett
16 June 2008
To the poor, neglected Alice (and for those of you kind enough to remember).

Alice is a reluctant muse,
She'd rather be my lover.
She does her best in dirty talk;
I roll away under the covers.

She has confided carnal desires
And even dressed up as a nurse,
But I'm as soft and limp as a gimp
Unless she does it in verse.

An oral master of the metre
(Pentametre a cinch)
Should she speak any prose at length
I fail to raise an inch.

Unless I strive within her form
There is no go in me,
Be it love, romance or lust;
So much for poetry.

Thought you had been quiet. This explains why. Or, to be truthful, is the icy coldness more a property of the martinis than the muse?

"unless I strive within her form" - a subtle poetic gem.

Hope you are soon back to presenting the other GW poets with some stiff competition.

Mightily Relieved . . .

. . . to see you back, Brett!

Strange, but understandable, how anxious we get when one or other of us goes 'off the boil' for even a day or two!

Comforting!

Anyway, love the above!

I feel my own stuff has lacked any semblance of 'quality' lately, and yes, I have dressed up as a nurse . . .

I shall try to restrain myself - and produce some better verse.

Yo!

Is it me, or there something very risqué (and boastful) about the third?

Enjoyed this. Poor Alice. It seems you're neglecting each other.

No, Phil

it's you! Nothing boastful -

'She could read me hardcore porn,
Before me she could beg;
Behold the limpness of this prawn
Cowering between my legs!'

Yes, poor Alice, the unamused muse!

Cheers
Horny Alice!

Yes, I'd rather curl up with Stephen Fry than have the rampant Alice try to keep me up all night - and failing miserably . . .

Oh! Ho!

Cheers!

But a whole metre?
Phil, sorry
Written by Brett (1001 comments posted) 16th June 2008
to shatter any illusions but I did specify pentametre - that means I only lasted five beats ( though, flatteringly, some would have this as five feet - that's more than a metre! ).
Cheers
Whaaaaaaah!

Cheers Both! Hysterical banter . . .

Bad time - bed time!

Ho!
