full moon tonight
By writerme

Everyone says there's something about a full moon....
I think it must be true

Big full moon tonight
Amidst the center of the dark sky
All around stars shining bright
So tranquil -- so still
In the shadows of the darkness
I hear a cry
A child's voice pleading why
Sounds of breaking dishes
Broken wishes

Star bright
Star light
How I wish on you with all my might
Big full moon of night
Please make everything all right.

This is so very sad. Very effective, breaking the calm of the night's stillness with the cry of a child, followed by the simple wish prayer of the child. His/her inner trauma comes through. It's sad that this probably happens all too often than we know.

Mia :cry
Full moon tonight.

I agree with Mia, there is such a pervading sense of sadness, the kind of sadness that only a child knows the depths of... Keith.

It came from reading a poem written by a 12 year old about her tears and leaving her home in the middle of the night. Her words hung in my mind. After reading it and coming home with a full moon in the night sky this poem came out.

How very sad indeed. There are so many children who are suffering from dreadful things which are going on within their families today. "The sound of broken dishes" etc. But perhaps a child just cried because she had dropped her dish - only you the writer can say.
