morning

I loved you
Like the sky crystal clear
In the morning
When the stillness of the city
Hinted at the waking
Of the hummingbird
And the barking of a stray

Where are you now?
Do you dream of terraced gardens?
Where the river flows in the depth of your hopes
And the clay urn falls
Shattering your fears
Raw, like the northern wind

But for Caesar’s bitterness
Piercing through me
The daily bread on kiln
Scents of deception, regret
And the trail of the urban fox

A good piece, this provoked some very vivid images for me! Well done!

I liked this because of the contrast between the beautiful, warm images (terraced gardens, hummingbirds) and some sort of cold post-apocalyptic scene (northern wind, urban fox, barking of a stray).

A nice one, wt
