The Kid

Another personal poem this time about a girl that I knew for my childhood that I wrote when we met again recently when we were older. All reviews welcome.

My words confuse you

Talking to me isn’t easy I know

Two years ain’t that much

But seven is too long.

I feel old but still have a long way to go

To me you’re an echo of the past

One I lost along the way

When I talk to you the pain goes away.

I know I’m patronising to your pain

I don’t think that everybody suffers the same

Do we both remember how we used to sing and play?

In my dark world you are a shining light

Not the only light but the brightest light

So before ulterior motive comes into play

And my feelings for you get in the way

I’ll tell you everything as it eats me away.

You could call me a little short sighted

As this poem is very one sided.

I know you’re no longer a kid

But a beautiful woman whose feelings she hides

When I hear you say my name I get chills up my spine

When I’m with you the world seems right.

In your eyes I could disappear

Into a world where I have no fear

I’d love to see you sunbathe in the sun

And run my fingers down your back

One by one.

So I hope that we can hang together

Get really drunk

And complement each other.

My memories of you

I keep in my heart

And I look to them when life is getting dark.

Maybe together we’ll find life is not so dark

But bright, colourful and actually a laugh.

Now I’ve sent you this there is no turning back

And by now you know the question I want to ask

So I wonder will you reply back?
