This is for Robert, who passed over at the age of thirteen. We loved him. As he was.

LABEL

I hear,
No one hears me;

I speak,
No one listens;

I am labelled,
I am Autistic.

I hear,
I listen,
I feel.

I am small,
Of no worth,
I am Autistic.

I am creative,
I feel and I see.
I see and feel beyond you.
I am Autistic.

I am free,
I believe,
I love,
I do not hate;
I love you.

Why do you hate me?

Sad but true some people don't like anything that's not quite perfect. Sorry you had to lose someone so special. Violet also unperfect.

People with autism are often misunderstood. Sorry that you've lost him.

You have spelled it out here. The question Robert asked often was ;
"why did ------- hate him. Heas a normal boy when given a little understanding. Well done Lis.

This is a very touching poem, which shows that Robert understood more than a lot of people gave him credit for, obviously a very sensitive, intelligent young man. My thoughts are with you.

Autism is on the increase these days. I know a few families who have autistic children, and have seen the pain the families go through. (I could cry rivers of tears especially for the mothers.) I'm so sorry you lost Robert, Diddi.
