Okay, some may call this 'metapoetry' . . .

 . . . with some justification!

But it's from the bitter heart, if that merits any absolution?

Cheers!

My Love

The love that cries your name in vain,
the love that dare not speak its name,
the love that calls us to this site,
the love that means that others might

despise the offerings we may bring,
means more to me than any thing
that begs the price of what we’ve sold,
when all our poems are grown old,

                                       for nothing.

Not for nothing, John.

Pleasure, sharing, thinking.

I like this. Metrically strict - so I tripped over 'are grown old.' Could be the way I'm reading.

As for references to others - best forgotten and then leave them to abuse themselves. As society dictates, quite acceptable in private, but a little messy and distasteful when done in public!

Thanks Phil!

Metrically strict? I'm trying!

Interesting about tripping over 'are grown old'. I've tried to keep the whole thing in 'tetrameters' - I often put a small variation into the final line to try to add impact or invite the reader to dwell on it for a micro-second longer than the preceding lines - dunno if it works here?

The final tacked-on 'for nothing' is a nod at Brett and Veronica for their 'Rondeau Redoubles' (?!).

You are tactfully and tactically very wise - I'm going to resist the temptation to snipe at others. As I advised Violet, it's better to 'rise above the situation'. I don't want to swim in sewage!

Thanks Phil!

You're always a breath of fresh air!

Cheers!
