To Hear the Bluebirds Sing
By bobc
22 June 2008
Again I hope

I was young, with body fresh, the world would dance for me
All the paths beneath my feet brought opportunity
Loving strong I married her, children blessed the nest
Of all the faces in the crowd, my smiles were the best
Skills gallore did I suck in, the envy of my peers
So great a place for me to be, breaching many years

Then the sun just disappeared, sad before my eyes
The paths all seem to lead to hurt, no one heard my cries
Then she came with eyes of green and a love so sweet
All the paths were there again, formed beneath my feet
Many roads did we explore, a life of loving bliss
But time went on fleetiing by and gave it's deadly kiss

Now I look and wish alone for waiting gods to bring
Chance to give my love again, to hear the Bluebirds sing

so bittersweet.

I'm not sure, though, whether this is your first love come back, or a new love. The uncertainty makes this poem particularly an enigma.

I like your form and the images.

My favorite type of poems are one that tie up the end, or yank the carpet out from underneath with the last line. Yours did this. I love it! Some lines could be more succinct and clearer, but it's a small thing. It's beautiful.
