Poetry
A moment, a time
By PinothyJ
29 June 2008
I wrote this while at work. The tune I had in my that I wrote these words to is long gone, leaving only this poem as a fossil of what once was.

I hope you enjoy…

this day
slowly ticking over
the same moment
again and again
this night sky is glowing above me
moon-shadows lick at my feet
it's a crazy kind of afternoon
it's a strange kind of week

tonight, I wish it were pouring down
the lights look ever so beautiful
tonight, in this sleepy little old town
dreaming once of leaving it all
like so many times before

it was not my Saturday
rushing without any sleep
losing feeling in my feet
the sun in my face
burning holes in my eyes
aching muscles, coloured, tired

tonight, I wish it were only you and me
the night looks ever so beautiful
tonight, living off a firm belief
young people home to sleep
dreaming once of leaving it all
like so many tattered teens
like so many times before

alright
so what's left of this city
in the walls that we dwell
keep us safe (once), keep us safe (again)
we hide
along foreign tides
that knows us so well
keep us safe (once), keep us safe (again)

this day
slowly ticking over
the very same moment
again and again
