Daddy's Girl

Okay, this has cost me a lot of tears .........
and yes, as I've said before, this is a set of Lyrics with its own melody.
One day this technophobe dinosaur will find out how to put a set of lyrics on an mp3
....... on that day, let the world BEWARE!!!!

Daddy's Girl

Chorus

Daddy's girl, you're growing up so fast

Why do childhood's magic years never last?

Young men are calling, falling down at your feet

All pleading for a share of your smile so sweet

Your golden hair cascades around your shoulder

Grey-green magic sparks you eyes as you grow older

You've swapped the calico ribbons tying back your golden locks

For a strap round the neck of a blue-grass guitar which rocks

My tears of joy sprinkle at the rainbow's end

Tell me my daughter's now a woman, but still my best friend

Chorus

You used to be Daddy's girl, with innocent grin and golden curls

Oh how I hoped that it could last, but you've entered a whole new world

Now all the young dudes come calling, streaming to you

You've got the gift and you … can make them happy, or leave them blue

Every day a new adventure in your teenage years

But darling, here's a simple fact: Daddy will always be here

I'm proud of you, my baby – daughter, woman, dearest friend

My heart is filled with love for you, a love which has no end

Chorus again. Repeat [and fade] if req'd to end ………

These were so obviously song lyrics, as they were almost impossible to read straight. You just wanted to try and sing them. They had that sort of rhythm. I wasn't sure whether is should be sung as a ballad or up tempo, probably a ballad?
You really should get together with a musician and make a song of it. Or if you are one get together with a piano.

So I guess your daughter is growing up fast? Nice song.

With Jane - so clearly a song. It tells of your relationship with your daughter very clearly. Watching your children grow up can cause all sorts of feelings - pride for what they're turning into and concern as you have to take an increasingly back seat role. The main thing - which you've expressed so well, is an understanding that you are there for them.

I'd love to hear it sung.

There is a simple method to record something like this. Most laptops have an inbuilt mike or they can be bought very cheaply for PCs. Simple recording - post on You Tube or somewhere like that. I don't suppose the sound quality would be that great though. Might be worth a try.
