President Mugabe unveils his new oath of office
By John_O
02 July 2008
Having stolen th election old man Mugabe brazenly turns up at the African Union summit as if he had every right to be there, not that many of his contemporaries actually told him otherwise.
If there is an African solution to this corrupt and vicious regime it doesn't seem to lie in the African Union.
This piece has had a previous 'life' on Newsbiscuit.

At the current summit of the African Union at Shame Onu Sheiks, recently re-elected President of Zimbabwe, Robert Grabitall Mugabe, revealed his new oath of office to almost universal approval by his fellow ‘Presidents for Life’.
President Mugabe recited the oath to a hushed audience of dictators, despots and generals.
“I, Robert Grabitall Mugabe, do solemnly swear to uphold the rights, privileges and bank accounts of the office of President for Life of Zimbabwe. I promise that I shall faithfully discharge my duties as sole and absolute ruler of Zimbabwe in any way I see fit for as long as I hold this proud and exalted office, and never to give it up. I promise to intimidate, torture, rape and kill any persons who promote the concept of democracy or who does not vote for me, so help them God.”
When the cheering and twentyone AK-47 machine gun salute had quietened down President Mugabe addressed the assembled press corps directly.
“I do not have any argument at all with the British people, none whatsoever. But if I hear that any British politician, especially that demon of Whitehall Gordon Brown,” he stated with his characteristic closed fist salute, “uses any part of it…. I shall be sending round the War Veterans…” He added ominously before taking his seat to a well-orchestrated ‘spontaneous’ ten minute standing ovation.
