Someone you know?

Throughout life I have come across many people who seem (to me) to fall into the story I write.

No matter what I do he will find something wrong, maybe he has some points worth noting, but it is the way he expresses himself, his words always veering towards the demeaning.

His academic education must have been of the highest order; his knowledge of punctuation and grammar far exceeds that of mine. He reminds me of some ‘teachers’ at school (many years ago) who thought it beneath them to teach the likes of us, so they ‘told’ us instead.

Abruptness can be challenging to the receiver, they have to be able to read in-between the words to see if it is an inability to express themselves or consider themselves to be academically above the reaches of the receiver. Whichever way it is it doesn’t really matter for to most people the words, which could have imposed knowledge and guidance, have been lost as an utterance of irrelevance.

It doesn’t ‘bother’ me as such, but I have to say it does ‘niggle’ (use of slang word sorry, but it seems to be more appropriate).

Throughout life I have carried out many tasks, some I have been successful, some I have not, but all I have carried out with dignity and with thought for any other person. Maybe that is why I am not financially rich but in many other ways I am rich beyond comprehension.

We all have characteristics; many differ from one person to the next, collectively though they could become something that bit more than special. Maybe with collective thought, presented amicably and with due consideration to the opinions of others this could be the ‘magic’ required to resolve many of the worlds issues.

Yet some decide that they alone are the expert in whatever they choose, no other opinion is worthy of consideration and by following this path they lead themselves and their knowledge into the wilderness.

Perhaps what’s lacking in today’s society is the learning of social skills, and the ability to accept others have an opinion to which all can learn from is extinct. Is it important that we impart knowledge in such a way that the receiver can understand and therefore learn, equally we have to be able to receive the opinion of others and integrate them into our own thinking. This way it will reinforce the original knowledge and have an understanding of where the other person is ‘coming from’.

Such a lot of thoughts put into words, all generated from the result of one person wish to impose rather than teach.

Very Interesting Piece. While reading this I kept thinking of people I have known who are just like that. Old teachers, fellow workers to name but a few.

To be honest "impose rather than teach" could sum up most of my education until I went to Uni.

Nice work.

Good thoughts, well put across, but not a story. It belongs to the non-fiction section. It's more of a personal opinion than anything, but thought-provoking nonetheless.
