I would like to point out that I love my daughter and do not really wish her to be quiet, well only sometimes!
Inspired by a morning of non stop questions.
I can't come up with a final verse as i am worn out from the chat so feel free to submit.....
My youngest daughter suffers
From verbal type diarrhea
There never goes a minute past
When she won't bend my ear
This never ending babble
The questions and the"MUM"s
The more I try to block it out
The louder she becomes
"MUM, I'm really hungry"
"MUM, I've hurt my knee"
"MUMMY,I've just wet myself"
"MUMMY,what's for tea?"
"MUM,I don't like carrots"
"MUM, she's being mean"
"MUMMY,can I sleep with you,
I had a scary dream?"
"MUMMY, what's the F word?
"MUMMY, what's that string,
"MUMMY, what's this rubber tube
I found it in the bin?"
I wish I had a manual
For questions that I'm asked
Nobody prepared me
How long does this phase last?

Fantastic! Written by Katanga (1163 comments posted) 11th July 2008 | Fantastic, Paula! Love it! An idea for a final stanza? How about I'm afraid it lasts forever It'll last until I drop From sheer bloody exhaustion At life's last bus stop. If that's no good, I'll try another! Ha! Ha! Cheers! I did like this, especially the "rubber tube"...

Yes V M I get the why's as well but that's from my other daughter, Maybe I'll write a poem about that to x | bravo! Written by fellpony (1580 comments posted) 12th July 2008 | Unfortunately, Paula, we don't get warned about the exhausting nature of children until it's too late, when we get, "Yes, they all do that." My grand-daughter (just short of 3 yrs old) has recently discovered the power of WHY. It's fun, in small doses to see how long we can go on with the exchanges. | Wonderful, Paula! Fortunately I don't have any children, but my cousin's two boys who visit regularly have never asked what the 'F' word is - they've never needed to after one of them poured Fairy Liquid into my pint! Not to be deterred I still drank it and convinced him that when I went to bed later that night I would snore bubbles. Enjoyed this, Paula. My daughter who is nearly 4 years old asks me 101 questions and it is really draining. The other day at the doctors surgery, she would not stop talking (loudly), it did make everyone smile though. Enjoyed Kellie | Written by TwistedTales (544 comments posted) 12th July 2008 | Lovely. Laughed out loud, throughout. Good one. Kellie - I think, it's only to a point that others smile Regards, TT | Ha! Ha! Ha! Written by Katanga (1163 comments posted) 12th July 2008 | Yes, my feeble effort was depressing - maudlinly so . . . I'm sure you've got that last stanza in you now that it's a new day, but no one else has had a bash, so here's another: It doesn't last forever One day she will stop - she'll run out of nagging problems And questions she can pop. Not a patch on your fine lines though! Cheers! John X |
