A Sonnet for Violet [warning - bad word here!]

This is for you, Violet, through and through and through . . .

With love and loads of respect!

Ps Hope the 'bad word' is appropriate?!"

Sonnet for Violet

I sing for you alone, dear Meadowcroft,
when all weak voices cease to cause us grief
for those who couldn't make it - were too soft
to recognise the strength of your belief
in God above, or something deep below
that might, with faith, restore all that we gain
from shallowness, and oh! The pain, I know,
cuts through you like a knife, and leaves a stain
on Heaven's purpose, never to restore
the love I have for you, as yet unseen -
our meeting, fragile - yet, now evermore
you are my friend, and lover who has been
my saviour and my strength through thick and thin.
It's a fucking awful world that we live in!

I think you are a breath of fresh air in the poetry forum. I just love your idiosyncratic, uninhibited approach to your work. The form never gets in the way of emotion. There's a simple artless elegance about the way you express yourself. Even if I don't always get it I usually catch the spirit and humanity that your put into it.

I stand back from your review! Richly undeserved!

I think Jane just about says it all, John.

Always from the heart - or occasionally the bottom!

Well put.
