I insist that, unlike Stephen Dedalus, I have never written my name on the buttocks of the Venus de Milo.
Bummer Limerick
- In the hot Kalahari it's indigenous;
There, the ladies look steatopyginous,
but for each girl Hottentot
the fat bum that she's got
Means that she's quite callipyginous.

cally what? Written by fellpony (1751 comments posted) 29th July 2008 | | One thing about you Brian - you're forever introducing me to new words. Katanga has a lot to answer for! And of course the limerick is now forever engraved on my behind, I mean mind. | Wonderful! Written by Katanga (1537 comments posted) 29th July 2008 | Having googled, it seems 'callipyginous' is a non-word, an alternative spelling of 'callipygious', meaning 'beautifully-buttocked' like Beyonce (someone has posted!). Makes me think of pigeons! Now, there's a fetish-and-a-half for you! Fabulous, Brian! Cheers! John | Written by Phil (7006 comments posted) 29th July 2008 | Another visit to Google for this one! Enjoyed it. Small wonder you didn't post a few examples for John to admire (and the rest of us) Phil | Canon Written by patterjack (1435 comments posted) 29th July 2008 | The (un)word has been in my vocabulary in that form since about 1949. So I consider it usable as part of my personal canon. And the Hottentot reference is a valid one , btw . Ask any Bushman. patterjack
| Anally Attentive Written by Bottleblondesurfer (3590 comments posted) 30th July 2008 | Well, Brian only you could get away with wonderful mix of classical allusions and smutty innuendo. It’s like Frankie Howard meets Aeschylus. I heard on the radio that the writers for Howard had to put in all the “oo-err missus”, “no- stop” bits as well, so it’s just as well Aeschylus wasn’t around. You seem to be deliberately subverting tour own attempt to up-grade the limerick with your emphasis on the nether regions. Anyway the whole thing worked gloriously well as a hybrid limerick. Something for everyone, I think. Cheers jane
