Going Nowhere
By mr_soul

Behind dark glasses, a young boy cries
Disguising sadness with a worn-out smile.
Laughing wildly yet all the while
Wishing he could find his love.

All his friends wouldn't understand
That the boy needed to become a man.
And he knew their prejudice would always stand
In his way of love.

A family who loves, with friends he'd roam,
Yet the boy couldn't help but feel alone
He'd have to face rejection, or be on his own,
A choice between different love.

Battered to the soul, his heart split in two,
Days that could make him, days he could rue.
So as he's in pain, would you judge him too?
Or let him let live and love.

Well Hello Mark. It's nice to see you back on Great Writing again. Although it seems a long time ago now since the days of my youth, I do remember the feelings expressed in your poem, and the same thing applies to girls too. What is worse than not finding the right person is thinking you have found them and ending up broken hearted. "Battered to the soul with heart split in two" - how well you have expressed the feelings of hurt. Well done! This surely can't be you though?? I hope not!

Thanks Josie! Nice to hear from you again. I've not been on here for a while, purely because I've had nothing to contribute. I don't know where this came from lol. I can't pretend I don't share feelings expressed in this poem, after all poetry or literature is inspired mostly I think by our own experiences. Although in this poem I would say there is a character there in his own right.
Thanks again Josie, nice to hear from you again!

great poem.
a teenage boy coming to terms with his sexuality?
Nicely written and sad.
Nobody should judge x

I's say: Let him live and love.

As above. This piece seems to be about a search for acceptance of sexuality. If I've misread - apologies.

Hi, Mark.
If this is personal - just remember that life is too short to worry what others think; if they can't accept you for who you are they are not worth worrying about (cliched maybe, but true!). All the best.
Cheers
