Pale Tribute
By Katanga
05 August 2008
A late night thing to pay tribute to some of you who have helped, supported and inspired me - it's unpolished, so I won't specify.

This is not meant to be a 'good' poem - just a personal 'nod' of affection.

Truly meant and felt!

Pale Tribute

The horses and the ponies now are gone
to where our poems hold them sound, asleep.

Will moonlight shine again on streams, shine on
our previous lives, our loves, forever keep
giraffes, blue-bottles, maggots close to mind,
hot-air balloons that silence nature's call
to freedom from the pride of all mankind,
that crushes nature to a smutty ball?

There are no living verses which I know
could open hearts and heal my suffering
like these I read, as skimming stones
have scattered ripples in the age-old ring.

The ring which I took back through shallow choice,
the ring I give you, now I've found my voice.

Ah, now that was really lovely. Especially the last part:

There are no living verses which I know
could open hearts and heal my suffering
like these I read, as skipping stones
have scattered ripples in the age-old ring
The ring which I took back through shallow choice

The ring I give you, now I've found my voice.

Your voice is appreciated!

Your comment couldn't be more to the point, (n)or more succinct . . .

Yes! Yes! Yes! is the answer to that, and it's all down to you guys . . .

Cheers!

Just hope I won't blow it all with rashness and crudity!

Thanks Phil!

Goin' home . . .

Another beautiful poem John, and I hold very similar sentiment to you as far as GW is concerned but I could never put that into verse with such class as you have.
