Phew! Glad to get that off my chest.......
Moan about the traffic and the people on the street,
Groan about the litter and the chewing gum on your seat.
Whine about the weather, the heat and the rain
Grumble, grumble, grumble, moan and complain!
Moan about the bin collections, the power going down,
Groan about taxes, clothes and Gordon Brown.
Whinge about the train delays, the NHS is not the same!
Grumble, grumble, grumble, moan and complain!
So you shout, scream, phone and write a letter
Yet you’d hate to ever see this country better.
You love to grumble, grumble, grumble, to moan and complain!
Moaners of Great Britain, you really are such a pain!

Written by Mr_E_Writer (225 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | I complain about lots of things; Britain becoming a dustbin of McDonalds cartons and Coca-cola cans, sex crime, knife crime, look after No1 and turn-a-blind-eye crime. And here's the thing... I'd love to see this country made better, I just don't believe I ever will. If we want to see our country take a turn for the better, we must teach all the scumbags to use a French letter. Yes, moaners are a pain, but so is a kick in the teeth or a knife in the ribs. Phew! Glad to get that off my chest...moan over. Eric.

I don't know about other parts of Britain, but I live in a lovely little town where we take a great pride in our gardens and the beautiful countryside around us. Volunteers go up onto the moors regularly to help care for them, and we made a lovely centennial garden with volunteers working together every weekend. The Churches of Ilkley must be amongst the most welcoming in the country, and when I say "churches" I mean the people within it. We have thousands of things to thank God for in this country, yet everyone keeps moaning. I really hate it!!! Well done Mark! | Eric Written by Brett (1001 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | has made a valid point here, Mark. Whilst there are petty squawkers banging on about the bus service and such, there is much to bemoan in society. I like to think that I live in a beautiful part of the world - but how can I fully appreciate the green countryside when it is littered in household refuse (and there are plenty of recycling facilities and collections). Should the working man not moan about taxes? When you are one of the few working men on an estate and you see that the idle, scrounging, fly tipping bastards have the people carriers, and manage to work effortlessly on their own houses and gardens. That working man knowing that he is funding his work shy neighbour? And as Eric has pointed out - the state of crime in society today - are we not to comment? The problem lies not with those who are fed up to the back teeth with this, but the generation of ignorant and lazy who refuse to talk, educate, possibly even show emotion, to their children. And are you not just moaning about the moaners? Well. there's the content got off my chest. As for the form, it does have more of a regular rhythm than your previous work, so well done for that. Cheers | Written by Bottleblondesurfer (3590 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | Oh blimey, we can't even have a bit of a moan now without the PC brigade having a go at us It's a bit of a sweeping statement to say- You'd hate to see this country better. You can't know that. So what do we do, just smile blandly while we drown in a sea of CCTV cameras and ever more oppressive laws eroding our civil liberties, and just say it's all for the best in the best of all possible worlds? I'll keep moaning, if it's all the same to you. cheers
| Written by Phil (7001 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | As above - there's plenty to moan about - but I do get your point. Phil | Written by Josie (2847 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | | Well, we've all got a lot off our chests, and it is plain that there are two sides to every coin. It certainly is a shame that some people pull the country down. It is a good idea that the unemployed will have to do something for the money they receive. Picking up litter or better still, not putting it down, is a good start. As for Phil, well he groans about the weather in Bolton. Has anyone told him of the weather forecast for tomorrow - or shall we keep it a secret? | Written by mr_soul (126 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | Haha, I knew this might cause a bit of a fuss. Ok, where to start? Well, firstly let me thank yous all for the comments. Much appreciated. Yes Brett I am having a moan about moaners, this is supposed to be a bit ironic I suppose! lol I work in a shop and the inspiration for this I suppose started there. The amount of people that ask me for an item thats not on the shelves, I go to check, find out we have none and relay the "bad" news to them. God, you'd think it was the end of the world! Yet there's people starving in the world, there's people in our own country who are homeless and living in poverty. Yet some people moan about such petty things as their favourite bag of cheesy snacks being out of stock? I find that pretty pathetic and sad. As are people who moan about trivial things such as traffic and delays etc. Yes they can be a right pain, but I just think people in this country need to chill out a bit more. Yet what maybe didn't come across so well in this poem is that I believe that there is room for moaning! Or better still going out and kicking up a right stink about issues that actually matter! People love to moan but don't do anything about it. I'm surprised at the bashing of the unemployed in some of the comments, a typical right wing view is to label them as lazy. Such ignorance. Nobody considers that there might not be enough work provided for people, there's a myth that somehow people on benefits are living a life of luxury while others slave away. Wrong. I wonder how many of us would wish to swap places? Because if we did, we wouldn't find the life all that great. And its funny how the state is always banging on about benefit cheats while they let millionare/billionare businessmen/women away with millions in tax simply because they have accountants smart enough to fiddle the books. (My point about tax was also inspired by the uproar about inheritance tax, a tax which I support) Anyway, glad to get that off my chest ha! Thanks again! | Written by mr_soul (126 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | | I also forgot to mention the biggest scroungers of them all: The Royal Family | Written by Phil (7001 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | I also forgot to mention the biggest scroungers of them all: The Royal Family Ah - a man after my own heart.null | Mark Written by Brett (1001 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | You are right - the irony did not really come across (certainly not intended irony at least). As for a typical right wing attitude - let me say I have always been a socialist, since leaving school (20 years ago) I have known periods of employment of hard graft, and I've also known long periods of unemployment. But everyday I see people who claim to be too sick to work laying their own flag stones, or building garden rockeries, brand new cars that the working families on the same estate can't afford. I know what it's like to struggle on the dole - I also know the dignity of earning what money I have. As for the Royals - quite right -ysglyfarths! Cheers | Written by punchy (535 comments posted) 8th August 2008 | I think if every person that has the energy and passion to whine and whinge spent that same energy doing something active about it then ,maybe this country would be better, but if people are just gonna whinge for the sake of it then maybe they should realise they are making the rest of us fecking miserable. good poem, i shall be reading this to my mother tomorrow, it might just shut her up for once! xxx Oh I remember the days when old people didn't complain and moan, oh life was so much better then! | Hear hear Written by keefmagic (7 comments posted) 9th August 2008 | Thankyou Mr Soul ... I loved this poem , and I am always in favour of a little bit of red flag waving . With reference to the comment's written , I do think that some people have extremely short memories regarding politics . Let us remember what life was like 20 years ago . I moaned a lot then , with good reason . These comments epitomise the Daily Mail reading bourgeoisie . In my experience the NHS is better than it's ever been Nice work . Keep the faith !! | Written by mr_soul (126 comments posted) 10th August 2008 | My thanks to all the comments, appreciate it. I hope your mother liked it punchy lol. Older people like a good moan right enough, if thats what they enjoy then who am I to deny them that pleasue lol. Elderly people have the reputation of being the worst moaners, maybe thats true. In my experience though, some of the worst are middle-aged, usually professional looking people although moaners do come in all ages, shapes and sizes. Ha! Keefmagic I will keep the faith! Haha. I dream of the day where we can have justice and equality, that day does not look to be coming anytime soon though. It is funny how willing people are to forget just how toxic and nasty the Conservative party is. Don't get me wrong, the Labour Party is just as bad, they've sold out their principles and became sleazy and nasty just like the Tories. There is not a lot of difference nowadays. I'm no fan of Gordon Brown, he is not doing a very good job as PM, he'll need to get his act together. But I do wonder why this country would rather have that utter buffoon David Cameron as PM. What a terrible person. I hope the day doesn't come, but I fear the day will and we'll let in the public schoolboy and all his Tory toff friends to once again wreak havoc on our society! Thanks again!
| Written by Fledermaus (3506 comments posted) 10th August 2008 | Will you stop moaning! A good poem. It had a nice flow. I thought it was our national past time, but apparently the British do it too (I always thought they were better at sarcasm and a stiff upper lip)? Sometimes though, this moaning can be amusing: Checking the letters in newspapers sometimes does make one wonder if people have too much time at hand: I remember there was a whole quarrel that lasted for over a week on escalators and wether these were for lazy people (who stand still on them) or for hurried people (who walk on them), and another one where someone was bothered by people that fell asleep on the train. Right... In Africa people die of hunger, in India children sleep in the streets, in Russia old people freeze to death, in China millions are homeless because of the earthquake, but no, our greatest concern is those annoying people who stand still on an escalator... | Thank you Fledermaus! Written by mr_soul (126 comments posted) 10th August 2008 | Thanks for the comment. Oh believe me! The British are extremely good at having a good old moan. I've never been the Netherlands though, if those newspaper letters are anything to go by I think yous might just give us a run for our money! lol. You nailed the point I was trying to make I think. You are quite right, there are people suffering terribly in the world, so much violence and poverty. Yet people still find time to complain about petty little things. Some people should take a moment to think about people who are far worse off in the world than themselves before opening their mouths! Perhaps if people diverted the energy expended from moaning about escalators or bus timetables or whatever it may be, to worthwhile causes, there might be less people suffering in the world. Thanks again, appreciate the comment!
