GOD’S SPECIAL CHILD

While there are bad things everywhere, people often miss the good things in life, which is right in front of them and within reach. As a journalist, I was interviewing a girl named Meena. She happens to be physically challenged child but I was really stunned to see her passion to live life with bravado.

Meena is a poet, who writes in her mother tongue Marathi, makes candles during Diwali (Festival of Lights) and earns enough for her pocket money, goes to market to buy vegetables, enjoys cinema, goes to picnic with able friends, cooks delicious food and above all, takes good care of her father. When I asked her, “Meena, don't you feel God did injustice by making you physically challenged? Her reply stunned me! “I am glad God me like this and I have no complains at all with the almighty. I do everything and enjoy it with all my passion. I am not dependent on others and above all, I am enjoying every single moment of my life. However, I do feel sad when people treat me as if I am not equal to them. They complain about their lives where as I enjoy my life... This is what makes me God's special child, a very special one!” She said all these without any remorse or self pity, in fact, she was very proud from within. I could see those sparkling eyes beaming with confidence.

I couldn't stop my tears and with great difficulty I completed her interview. Sadly though, her interview never got published because the Newspapers didn't find it worth publishing. However, whenever I get the chance, I talk about Meena because she taught me never to complain about life... though I must confess honestly, I do complain sometimes about it... However, when I remember Meena's words, it gives me the strength to overcome all obstacles with ease.

The reason I am sharing this story with one and all is to show how one can differ from the other in views and interpreting things about life. Life is beautiful children! Make the most out of it. Each one of us is God’s special child! Always remember to live life with a smile. Whenever you feel you have problems, think of all those around you, who are less fortunate and who have less than what you have at your disposal. By complaining about your beautiful life, you will be more miserable but if you will learn to face problems with a smile, you will always rise above the situation. All the best!

Well written Johnny. I wish I could write as well in my second language (Italian), but this is your 7th isn't it? It puts the rest of us to shame!!! Lovely story. All children are special in God's eyes and in ours, but children who bravely battle on with disabilities and can still smile are especially wonderful I think.

This made me smile. I am not a very good writer but I have always tried but even I can see that this should have been published. It is brilliant to give the reasons for writing because it shows why something is commited to paper (or pixels)
All the best

Yes, I agree children who live with disability or other misfortunes always seem to be so accepting and seem to get more out of life than able bodied children. Whenever I watch television award programs it always brings tears to my eyes.

good piece.

Josie, OA and Kellie... I am glad I could touch the chord with all the beautiful soul. OA, I am so happy to make you smile and I know you will always remember this story just like I do. Also remember, never underestimate your talent... Believe in yourself and write more, read more and strive to be better than the best! Believe you are good and better than others, only then you will become the best!

There are chances you will face lots of criticism and critical feedbacks from all quarters but then it should not dampen your spirits. The only thing to remember is to spread goodness in others life, even if you have touched just ONE soul, your life is really worthwhile OA. I do hope and I am glad that I have touched chords with your souls OA & Kellie...

All the very best!

Hear, hear. Beautifully written JohnnyD. We can all at times look at ourselves and curse what we've been given in life, wishing we looked better or could do certain things better. But life is what we make it. We have to take what we've been blessed with and make the most out of life.
I enjoyed this, nice one!
