The Gown of Life
By bobc
17 August 2008
Into the breach

Walking on the sea of dreams
Blessed with tears and smiles
I lose myself in people's streams
Flowing lonely miles
Once the dragon ruled controls
Syncopated breath
Unique unto the world of souls
Not a pawn of death
...............................
With eyes now more adorned with truth
Leeched from life, with cost
With broken arms of faded youth
The forever word now lost
The birds of days build a nest
But see the leaves turn brown
And memories dance in body's rest
And life takes off it's gown

I really like this poem, forgive me though because I am far too tired to know what it means, I can't think this late, I'll need to hit my bed! lol.
But this flows just wonderfully I thought, you have some really interesting figures of speeches! I'm a bit lost though.........perhaps you could shed more light as to the meaning?
Nice one!
thanks

Many thanks for you comment...and for foregoing much needed sleep to do so! I suppose the basics of this poem are : first stanza-the arrogance of our youth and our not being moved by our own mortality, the need to feel ourselves as a distinct being; second stanza- how time and experience and wisdom make clear that, in the end, we all follow into the void and the truth of existence is revealed..." And life takes off it's gown"
