Ode to my fellow midnight marauders

Who like me take no notice of last orders

We all should be in bed but we are writing here instead

Katanga I can see you are on line I imagine you are drinking wine

So I dare to boast that you'll join me in this toast

To all who are still signed in  those of you who have joined us in sin

Sitting there still writing fighting tiredness as twilight starts to dim

Goodnight and god-bless and has me granny used to say Darlings

Please don't forget to undress even though I so now need to rest

I think I 'll just wait and see who I've addressed

So please be kind reply in rhyme in your own time

Here’s to the midnight marauders
Who surely don’t live to be old.
For early to bed keeps you healthy
And wealthy and wise, we are told.
Prey take notice

fellow marauders please pay heed to Josie's warning because she is wise to advise that we sleep at lest through till early morning. Those of you who choose to ignore decide to write some more give some mind to replying to me in rhyme

I admire those who stay up late to write. The old saying about healthy, wealthy and wise, may work at times but being good doesn't give you a longer life, it only makes it feel longer.

I've posted an answer in rhyme.

Cheers :grin

No, not a longer life, but less wrinkles round the eyes - well, so they say, but I don't know if that's true.
Very well put!

I missed this last night - I must have been marauding somewhere else!

Thoroughly enjoyed! And me in it? I blush!

Cheers Violet!

I remember the old saying told to me by a friend:

Early to bed and early to rise
Loses your girl to the other guys.

"not a longer life, but less wrinkles round the eyes"

Ah, but who would you use as the control for comparison?

Speaking for myself I'm an Owl rather than a lark, but it does depend on situation. Camping out with horses at a competition, I'm a lark, early to bed, early woken up by the nags clomping about, while the owls sleep off their hangovers. At home, I'm seduced by the word processor in the evening, hoo hoo, and spend too much time on line to be up betimes in a morning.

Early one morning, just as the sun was rising
I heard my daughter singing in the wagon down below
'Stuff "presentation",
it's aggravation -
seven hours of cleaning gear for twenty minutes' show... '
