This a story I wrote for a writing competition. Hope you enjoy!!!
She stood there scrutinizing her twisted reflection in the serene sea. Her astonishing grey eyes - pregnant with antagonism and pain - glared at the darkened image of her bloody body, her bitter face and her brutal hands. Beneath her she could feel the gentle force of the sea inhaling all her troubles and cleansing her naked soul. However each ripple was followed by a dubious gust of wind that left her heart throbbing within her chest.
The soothing whispers of the sea left her motionless and frail as everything around her evaporated. All that was left was her. As she breathed in the biting air, she felt herself moving closer and closer to the depth of the sea, it was as if the sea was murmuring her name, enticing her to come closer and closer only to devour her juvenile body. As she drew closer and closer, the saline sea invaded her mouth, nose then eyes, till she was no longer able to feel anything else but the oppressive water tightening around her body like a clamp fixing her into position.
Deeper and deeper she submerged into the sea; deeper and deeper into the demonical world.
Her life rushed out of her, floating towards the surface of the sea. She reached out, struggling to retrieve it, only to grasp sheer disappointment as she expected to. She had always failed to get what she desired, what she needed however she effortlessly seemed to grasp ache and hatred. From the beginning of life she was abandoned by her own mother and deserted on a stranger's doorstep. Why should she expect anyone else to love her?
The vigorous water grew darker as she sank to its depth. She was now caged in this inexorable trap unable to make any sudden movements. The venomous liquid penetrated her, making sure to absorb every last particle of air that lingered on her lungs' moist surface. Suddenly she saw a small light. Would it be that someone was looking for her? Her eyes were left lifeless as it shone above her like a smouldering flame. Gradually the light drifted away from her diminishing into a faint glow; leaving her to breath her last breathe and to merge into the seabed.
