WHERE IS THE PRESENT?

WHERE IS THE PRESENT?

Ever since evolution
Illusion of the inventor
Have misled the world
Without a question till date…

Where is the ‘Present’?
Will anyone ever enlighten me!
Funny, stupid, irrational
Are just few thoughts…

Even before you know it
It has already become the ‘Past’
Isn’t it true we have been living in the ‘Past’?
Ever since evolution…

Should we call the ‘Present’
A nano second wonder
Shouldn’t we abolish the ‘Present’?
To live better in the ‘Past’ for the ‘Future’…

To have just the ‘Past’ and the ‘Future’
Life would be so very-very simpler
Will someone tell me with true conviction?
Where is the ‘Present’? Where is the ‘Present’?

Too true, 'tis an illusion of the mind to kid ourselves we understand some other patch of the universe other than our own little box.
But not until you understand the box will you understand what lies beyond it young padawam.
As our good friend yoda would say. :P

Woven cloth
Written by fellpony (2924 comments posted) 21st August 2008
I read somewhere that "Existence" is like a roll of woven cloth being drawn slowly across a knife edge. Where the cloth meets the edge is Now - the part that has gone before is Past and the part that will follow after is Future. The Present is always changing and all we can perceive of it is a limited line where the knife edge and the cloth meet. We can't live in the past or the future, for we inhabit the line of the knife. Does that answer your philosophical question?
Interesting . . .

. . . philosophical question, but I can't read this as a 'poem'.

Sorry, but I think this interesting question would be better posed under 'non-fiction'.

You might get more considered responses.

Cheers!

Nice example Fellpony...

Thank you so much for the beautiful example. However, the question still remains unanswered ever since our evolution... whether we want to agree or disagree to it. While we say, we are living in present, how long is actually the present? Even before we are saying we are living in present, it has already become our past - reality bites...

Thank you John for your views...

What a fascinating thought! You have changed the concept of "present" for me and will probably keep me awake tonight expanding on the implications, :)

Thank you, I think!

Seriously, a good read,
