ORRRR

last one into the Playroom's a sissy.

It was Thursday night on Great Writing,
the Poets were rhyming in line,
The playwrights were doing their wrighting,
the Kids’ section growing just fine,
Short stories were neater and tauter,
Nonfiction was brimming with thought,
Sci Fi was as queasy as oysters
(Don’t buy, in July, any sort)
The Comedy scripts were hysteria,
and Crime and Extended were full,
but the Playroom was bovinely cheerier
cos on Thursday we come to talk bull.

What a lovely phrase! I almost feel like singing "I see trees o' green, red roses,too..."

Is it only Thursdays we come to talk bull, Sue? (Rhyme ain't easy for a bull named Sue - though clearly it is!)
Cheers

It just happens to be something I have noticed about GW - there are more people on line and active on a Thursday (or Friday morning in Oz) than other weekdays. Weekends are chancy because we have so many things to pack into them :)

What an amusing piece of writing. I love the title too.

So that cafe is actually open then...ummm. Better go and get some change.

You may laugh, but what is this wrighting phrase!

I'll join you all in the cafe at the end of the universe.

That is such a better name than Play room. You must change it or I shall stamp my foot and sweam and sweam.
I think that is the perfect opening for the forum. It could be the forum's equivalent to pledging allegiance to the flag.

we better hadn't tell Ed what the nickname is, I'm sure he wouldn't be pleased.

Solst: "but what is this wrighting phrase!" it's the verb that gives us playwright, cartwright, wheelwright, and the past participle "wrought". Ancient verb meaning "to make, to fashion". So, playwrights do it by wrighting. I know, feeble.
Made me laugh.
