POETRY OR PROSES
By meadowcroft1964

I am ignorant I suppose

To what most of what other's knows

Whether what's I've written is deemed poetry

Or just the poorest prose

All I know about mine

Is it's inclination to rhyme

While at the same time

Unburdening my mind

Verses through not pretty

Not written to provoke pity

 Just rashily submitted

In the hope that so that

They will serve to remind

If you become reclined

To looking below the surface

You could be surprised at what can resurface

Treasure may lie before their eyes

Roses can grow in the same bed with thorns

That a fact we all know though

Not everyone knows goodness can survive

Even where only evil seems to abide

I think you got a bit tied up in this one Violet - I don't think you've made your mind up whether to discuss "verse vs prose" or "good vs evil". There are a few typos and duplications too (like "In the hope that so that "). Give it a scrub and see what happens.

This seems prosey (is there such a word?), but I love the image in the last 5 lines, roses and thorns, and goodness and evil. And I can certainly relate to your thoughts throughout this piece, Violet. I discovered a certain pattern in my writing habits - when I'm in distress, I write romance or romantic comedy. When I'm ok, I write non-fiction. When I'm somewhere in the middle, I write fiction (non-comedic kind). So far I've written a lot of romance - kind of escapism into happy-ending fantasy!
