The harpies fly
They swoop and curve
They dive for me
Plucking at my clothes
Whipping my hair and head
Into delicate knots

I tear at them, but
My fingers are swollen
I scream, scorching
my throat

The foul fliers
Desert me
Leaving me alone
with my ridicule

The wasteland moans
