Butterflies

Butterflies are the gypsies of the countryside

Exotic, colourful and born to live free

Fliting about from plant, flower to tree

That's what being Romany was once all about

Never at home chained to one place

Adept at adapting, forever charging pace

Surviving persecution for thousands of years

History leaves little room for debate

That fact made perfectly clear

Only for now our culture be allowed

To wither away, disintegrate and die

Suffocated by the powers that be

Who denied us the right just to be

Wild and free so long as no burden

Why can't we just be left to roam free

Once a asset to the county whole

Climate of change as taken its toll

Like the beautiful butterfly

Endangered are we
