Tonight

Tonight

I almost went beserk

tonight because

you were not here.

I ranted past the midnight hour

and punched

the walls

the walls that held us close

kept us enthralled

in love that decorated

our house

all-fully walled

Where have you gone?

Why do I ask?

Gone, gone to where the midnight seeks

an answer long, long gone

into our past.

I curl my fingers back,

retreat,

take in my impotence,

yet still love lingers.

Powerful John,

I take this as grief and the desperation that takes hold when all is quiet and we feel alone in the world and miss a loved one most. Frustration becomes anger and hopelessness becomes overwhelming.

I've been there and this captures that moment perfectly,

an excellent write,
