Consumer Consumed

People go through life in a rush and a hurry,

I like to sit back, relax and not worry.

Need the material things but they all cost money.

But it’s hard to be laid back when the bread line is broken,

Red words say “Pay up! The law has just spoken”.

Trying to fight through, consumed by some token.

Responsibility and reality spoil my dream world,

Can’t keep up this battle like some kind of super girl.

Plod on! Chin up! Give the lotto a whirl.

Consumer, Consumed, chewed up and spat out,

Balancing books is not what life’s about,

There’s love and there’s nature – not just seeds of doubt.

We work and we carry on in the same dreary way,

Completely worn out at the end of the day,

But there’s food in the cupboard and the bills WILL get paid.

Life’s like an orange when you peel off the skin,

Each segment is sweet but some have pips in,

You can choke on them, swallow, spit them straight in the bin.

Each item you pay off just makes room for the next,

Don’t think on it too long and it’s not so complex…

Forget all the payments, live life and don’t vex.
