Ten things that go up and down

Yes, literally a list of ten things that go up and down!

A writing exercise from "Everything I Know About Writing" by John Marsden, Australian writer.

I was going through old writing files and came across the original list I had done about 13 years ago. As you can see, a literal interpretation of the task!

As I read it, a new list started forming in my head, each item a reflection of my current state of mind, possibly.

Interesting exercise in thought processes. Try it. What's on your mind?

PS I'd love to read anyone else's lists!

Original list:

Lifts
Yo-yos
Liquid in thermometers
Hills Hoist (Aussie rotary clothes line)
pogo stick
ball when bounced
water in a fountain
escalators
person on a trampoline
stairs

Today's list:

stock market
my mood
bad food
petrol prices, fuel prices, food prices (still waiting for the down bit)
my expectations
picnic table umbrella in a British summer
my basil plant
water level in my kettle - frequently
turbulent airplane
my ironing board - again, frequently

Hmmm, off the top of my head:

hem lines
a 10-dollar hooker in a New York City alley
flags
blood pressure
The tails on Milo and Randy, the two squirrels who rent the oak tree in my backyard.
My mental age
lava
The value of things
roller coasters
hydrofoils

Brilliant!

Is it revealing of your present state of mind?

AK :)
Interesting, it certainly is!

Enjoyed this as a piece and as an exercise. Thanks.
Liked Mike's above (beat me to blood pressure, which made my blood pressure...well I'm sure you can guess).

A gradient
Slade's sales of 'Merry Xmas, Everybody'
Eyebrows
John Denver
Anyone whose chosen form of transport is a space-hopper
A shot glass forcing a drink from an optic
Jesus on the cross
My estimation of certain friends, and quite often myself
Evel Knieval attempting to jump the Grand Canyon
My foreskin

Cheers
