Unrequited Love

It doesnt need one! Written when, yes, you guessed it,  he left me. A sad time, but I got over it.

Our house, so dark and lonely now, that love has gone away,

I used to feel so safe here, but left alone, each day,

Uncaring tears and bitter fears are now all that remains,

I once enjoyed such solitude, when life held little pain.

You took too much from happiness, gave nothing in return,

And lessons of your greed I'm left, in sadness now to learn.

I hope, one day, you  realise, that life is give and take,

And caring hearts are made to love, not as you thought to break.

But, until then, I sit alone, and wish to start again,

You stole my love, and I am left to pay the price, with pain.

Very lilting. I think this needs a melody to go with it - it has the feel of a song more than a poem about it, and I wondered if songwriting was something you do? I imagine this being sung in a smoky cellar bar somewhere, by a woman with a guitar, a la Joni Mitchell...
i concur
