Beast of Destruction
By chocomallow

He said he cared and I was glad,

But somehow that was not enough

To banish the Beast feeding on me,

Ripping me mentally into shreds.

It has this hold over me,

A possessive controlling streak

Which has not released my heart or mind,

Since it firmly dug its claws into my then smooth skin.

But it is a bumpy ride, this life, a plethora of obstacles.

It is no easy task knowing I must first overcome

And kill this colossal ogre of misery and despair.

That is before I even embark on any other hurdle.

I have fought and struggled,

Sometimes tackled the creature,

Poked its heart with a sharp serrated stick,

But still not destroyed it.

It has a tough membrane

And its might is slowly weakening me.

The clock is ticking, time is counting down.

I slip in and out of its jaws.

Yet I am, for the moment, a very shaky survivor.
