Morning all!
This is a little idea i came up with about what sneezes really are!
It cuts a bit short, i know, but my luch hour was coming up and wasn't available in the afternoon!
Fortescue Cometnose sat dozing in his armchair, head slumped forward, chin resting on his silvery beard, fingers clasped at his chest. The last glowing embers in the fire place were growing dimmer by the minute and a chill had begun creeping through the room causing candles to flicker and the large stacks of paper on the cluttered desk to flutter in the breeze. Fortescue stirred for a moment, shivering slightly, and pulled his threadbare robes tighter around him. After breifly shifting his position in his chair, his head lolled back into the soft head-rest and he continued his blissful slumber, letting out low rumbling snores with each contented breath.
In the light of the flickering candles, a shadow crept slowly along the wall, silently stalking the sleeping wizard. From the twilight darkness appeared two tiny eyes, their unblinking focus fixed directly on the old mans nose. As the mysterious intruder moved ever closer, the dim light of the fire illuminated it's form. It was a miniscule creature, no more than a few centimetres tall and covered head to toe in thin, whispy hairs, the only noticable features were the beady little eyes and the large (in comparison to the rest of it) grin, spread toothily across its fuzzy face.
It crouched, shifting its weight in preparation, and with a tiny squeak like a rubber duck re-inflating, rocketed towards the oblivious wizard with terrific speed. The Sneeze arrived mid-snore and swept into the nostrilly depths with ease, grasping some nose hairs to help deceleration.
Fortescue gave out a great sniff and sprang awake, wide eyed and wheezing, scrabbling for his handkerchief. Inside his nose the Sneeze had begun to wriggle, writhe and giggle in excitement, for this was what Sneezes lived for. And then, with an almighty 'AHHH! and a, mightier still, 'CHOOO!' the Sneeze, amongst other things, was ejected from the nose and propelled towards the door where, softly as cotton hitting silk, he bounced to the floor, scrambled under the door and scurried off into the night.
