Locust

While winds bend grasses back

durian fruits fall across Vietnam.

Hatching has occurred near the delta

where rains fall through the night.

A bank of clouds hail swarms

of locusts, black arrows down.

This is some other sky

where white ants burrow

in conical mounds as salty

as the Cu Chi tunnels are orderly.
