| A Silly Verse! | |

My wife and I have just returned from an all-too brief visit to Marseille, Arles, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence. Eating out is very expensive, yet I've never seen so many restaurants and bars packed all day and evening with people happily eating and drinking! And so, the result of my observations is a silly verse. Incidentally we had dinner in the 'yellow' bar/restaurant in Arles made famous by Van Gogh's painting. It was the worst meal and service we've ever had in France and I have written a letter of complaint in schoolboy French to Monsieur le Maire and the Tourist Board. I've just been away To vieux Marseille And I have the impression There's still no recession 'Cos everyone's happy all day; Though the prices are high As the azzure-blue sky, They pass and they dance In ancient Provence As you've heard in the song 'Sur le Pont D'Avignon'!
