Another Time Another Place
By amethyst
08 March 2006
Down
Down
Spinning round and round
Through a vortex, Deep… Dense…Dark
Lungs exploding
Crushing against my chest
Fear screaming a torturous sound
Eyes seeing all, the worst and the best
Escape
Drift away

Another Time
Another place
Another world
Smiling
Laughing
Playing
Lovingly wrapping your arms around the ones you love and miss

Final goodbyes
Final kiss
Finality in an despairing world
Down
Down
In an ever ending spiral
Floating
Eyes closing
Visions disappearing
Life’s air gone
Endless dreams
No longer forlorn

You capture the atmosphere of falling, spinning, here very well. The short sentences and the steady, but not over-done, repetition make this very atmospheric. I found it a bit abstract though; I'd have liked some sense of the story behind the piece, maybe an image of where it all began. At the moment it's a fantastic snapshot of a poet's inner world but there's no real hint as to how that inner world connects with me, or anything else much for that matter. There's "Another time / another place / another world", but where andwhen?
