I like love but like every rose it has its thorns. Love is like a rose. Like a rose it wilts. Like a rose it dies. Like a rose it can cut you. Like a rose it can hurt you . Like a rose it can bloom. Like a rose it can die and come back, Again, And, Again.

LOVE IS NOT ALWAYS LIKE A ROSE Written by Josie (2785 comments posted) 24th March 2006 | | Love can be nurtured too. Disease can be cut out of roses, and when something is killing love, it can be changed. You have to work at creating beautiful roses, and you have to work at making "love" as against just infatuation. I was nearly killed by a rose, though. I scratched my wrist and was infected by a streppacocca infection. The chances of being here today and writing to you were one in a million. I'm extremely lucky. | Written by brook_rivers (484 comments posted) 24th March 2006 | | i really love the shape of this poem reflecting the rose. Im not sure i like line 7 but apart from that a good idea.well done. maybe you could try making it slightly longer whilst still kepping the shape? | Made me think of Neil Young Written by BrianRobertNeal (1195 comments posted) 27th March 2006 | Who wrote Love is a rose, but you better not pick it, For it only grows when it's on the vine. I was also unsure about the line below Like a rose it can die and come back, perhaps something along the following track, Like a rose bush it dies, but can bud again , Brian.
| Written by B.D. (82 comments posted) 1st June 2006 | | I have never heard of being killed by a rose of all flowers but I, being a sort-of naive girl, totally agree with Josie! And I didn't even realize the shape until I read brook_rivers comment...oops! But if that's your primary...thing about the poem, then I agree that line 7 needs to be shortened. Maybe you could put a comma at the end of line 6 and then shorten line 7 to "die and come back"?? I like it, though. And very well said! (your introduction) Keep writing poems!!! |
