Morning
By X-Knowledge
04 April 2006
This was written on march 12, 2006, and it is another favorite of mine. It describes the essence of how I see morning.

Morning comes as quickly as ever,
While I am asleep throughout a night of peace.
Comfort zone never disturbed,
Gaining and preserving my energy.
The sun arises when I wake,
Proclaiming a new break of dawn,
Or there may be fog or rain.
There is no other time of day when beautiful shadows are made and the spirit is on one's mind.
But when I wake,
I feel recharged,
Knowing that God kept and protected me,
When I was unable to be aware of how the world was functioning.
That is the morning.

......... and I haven't even had my first coffee of the day! :eek

There's a certain childlike innoccence throughout this poem (which works for me! )

The rhythm works, too, but.....

suddenly the rhythm and - more important - the language you use in the next to last line:

"When I was unable to be aware of how the world was functioning."

isn't that of a child, and (for me) this spoils the overall effect.
Not meant as an 'unkind' word, hope you won't take it that way! :grin

Quite a good subject, but suddenly, the rhythm goes crazy and such a long line appears. I think that your poem could be much improved if this strange long line was brought into line with the rest of the poem. Other than that it was interesting.
