How good you were for me! With you was bliss, Your loyal eyes and your gentle bitten fingertips took turns to tell me I was loved. Our little bed in your little room Was the whole world, and you More precious than treasure. I had it all & threw it away. I was the base indian and my pearl is lost to the sea. |
Hi SK Written by BrianRobertNeal (1195 comments posted) 13th April 2006 | I liked the middle stanza. "Our little bed in your little room Was the whole world, and you More precious than treasure." But I didn't understand-"base Indian". I was the base indian and my pearl is lost to the sea But then I am a bear of little brain, Brian.
| the base indian... Written by shirley_keeldar (67 comments posted) 13th April 2006 | ...last act of 'Othello' after Othello has killed his wife Desdemona when he is wrongly persuaded by the dastardly Iago that she has cheated on him: "...one whose hand, /Like the base Indian, threw a pearl away/ Richer than all his tribe..." Trying to convey that feeling of doing something totally totally wrong and regretting it. Thanks for reviewing | Cool Written by IPFaulkner (83 comments posted) 23rd May 2006 | I would never have gotten the Othello reference either. Personally I liked the first stanza better. I like little details and it was the bitten fingertips that did it for me. IP |
