In the event of a failure to open It's important not to fret, Take a moment out to compose yourself After all, you're not dead yet. There's a secondary chute you see A back-up if you may. So enjoy the thrill of the rush of the wind Before ripping the chord away. In the event of a failure to open (again) There's really not much I can say, Hurtling to earth at a hundred miles an hour, (Reasonably speaking) can only end one way. In this moment of paralyzing terror Don't burden yourself with blame, You're statistically safer than driving to work, Throwing yourself out of a plane. So try to look on the bright side As you approach your terminal speed, You always wanted to do a parachute jump, Consider it an ambition achieved. Though you never got to go to Vegas Or trek thru the foothills of Nepal, Or run the streets of Pamplona Ahead of a raging bull. So you didn't get to go white water rafting Or bungee jump off the world's highest bridge, And you never ran a London marathon Or learnt to speak Cantonese. As the moment of impact approaches And all these regrets are crashing through your head, Think on.... You may not have made the mark on the world, you would have wanted, But you can leave your mark all over Wiltshire instead.
