Remembering P.
O for the calm absorption now
of one who watches stars at night
and sees the sky's reflective bow
offer the essence of delight.
O for the patience of the one
who sits alone on rivers' banks
and hears the fainting wind bemoan
its losses to the reeds' sharp ranks.
O that the silvering dust of dreams
spread by sleep with subtle art
could overlay what has been done
and still the aching of my heart.

Enjoyed it Written by steve666 (50 comments posted) 22nd April 2006 | Very nice, very traditional, very smooth. What a good read - 'silvering dust of dreams' - great imagery. And 'the reeds sharp ranks' - again, what a good picture you paint. It reads like a classic poem and i wanted to read it more than once - not so i could critique it, but because i liked it. Good job! | Written by fellpony (1752 comments posted) 4th February 2008 | | Found this one in the Blue Box ... I hadn't seen it before, and it rewarded the reader, as I fully expected it would. |
