Static images of

Conceived bliss.

The pretentiousness of our presentation,

Because we must look our best,

So in years to come

We can look back

At this one moment

Captured in time

And relive it

Not for what it was

Only for the best memories

None of the tears,

Heartache, misery, and anger

Just the smiling faces

We can re-write history

Wipe away the tears

From our minds

Make the past special

A capsule

To make us smile

When we are

Emotional, sentimental, nostalgic.

To remind us of the face

That is slowly fading

Slipping from our

Thoughts

Static images of images

Of conceived bliss.

I'm a bit threatened by poetry if I'm honest but I really understsood this. I too haveI think you captured it well.
There are so many memorable and truthful lines in it. A lot of poetry is too personal but I think most poeple could relate to this and take something from it. Glad I took the time to read it,especially as I feel quite pleased with my self, Iv'e read and understood a poem!
add this between have ...and ...I

Very good. I think you said an awful lot in just a few well chosen words. It is so true that the image you see in a photograph is often very different from the reality of the situation when the photo was taken.
