Tragedy

We struggle to conceive them
We bring them into this imperfect world
We nurture and protect them to their youth
We support their interests through puberty
We encourage them to bond with fellow beings
We guide them into choosing a career
We keep regular contact with them till adolescence
Then, without reason, tragedy strikes!

We fail to communicate through anxiety
We never hear their frantic cries for help
We do not recognize the warning signs
We ignore direct contact in their grief
We do not console them at the loss of lovers
We are unaware that they suffer in silence
Then, we lose them to tragic death!

Ouch...

I was just about to open with a cheery "good to see you back on the site", but somehow this piece is a bit too solemn to be followed by a fluffy greeting... It certainly seems heartfelt, I can only hope and pray that you weren't writing from direct experience here - I certainly have no idea how *I* would respond if something like this were to happen to a child of mine. With Easter themes still being uppermost in my mind, I was reminded strongly of the image of Mary, the mother of Jesus, at the foot of the cross - that perhaps she may have been thinking something similar on the first Good Friday. Certainly much to think and meditate about here...
Sad but True

A friends son of 20 years took his own life last Monday - Was only discovered on Tuesday - three days before Easter Friday. He had been jilted by his girlfriend. What a price to pay for rejection!
:eek
