Fairy Dust

Another poem that just poured out. I'm not sure if I can actually write any other way... oh well! :)

I slayed the dragons,
Charged with my sword,
Poured out a few choice
Words, then poof!

Gone, into a cloud of fairy dust.

I found the castle
Where she has slept,
Kept so still for a
Hundred years, then up!

Wide awake, expecting her Prince.

I crept to her room
Sonnet in one hand
Our plan for a lifetime
Creaky door, then...

Nothing.

Not even fairy dust.

Great fun - a nice little subversion of the classic stories, with a good line in understated sarcasm. I can relate to this one! :)

Be nice to dragons though - they're much misunderstood!

HAven't seen any posts from you for a while, I enjoyed this one! :grin

Just a thought about layout, though:
With very little rearrangement (and I don't think it would spoil the overall effect) it could be "tweaked" to come out as a formal 14-line sonnet .... worth thinking about? 8)
