All His Smells
By shirley_keeldar

this might be unpleasant...

His ex-girlfriend said:

Dont go back to his flat because
His feet smell awful.
What she really said was:
I know him and all his smells.

She stood little more than
Three feet away as he kissed me
And I saw her over his shoulder
Poison in her face.

His feet did smell; I didnt care.

I slept in his little camp bed with
Unwashed linen that smelt
Of greasy boy but I didnt care.

I washed my face in his dirty bathroom
That smelt of wet dog and
I did not care.

The day we split up
He cried and cried;
He got in the bath and soaked in
Water that smelt only of roses.

There always seems,to me anyway, to be a faint air of menace behind your work. and I also get the feeling there is subtext there that I'm just not getting. It's funny I enjoy reading your poems even though I'm not sure I understand them. Some of the poetry here goes right over my head, but I feel I nearly get yours but not quite, maybe next time.

The title drew me in, as i guessed right on the kind of work it would be.
I really like this kind of stuff - makes me think and wonder about all the foibles we all have.
Nor being technically minded, i cannot give you anything that i think would improve it - and to be honest, if it aint broke - dont fix it.
The more i read it, the more relevant and 'right' it seems.
Well done for capturing the feeling. :grin
thanks...
